An injection molding screw barrel for recycled plastic must handle more demanding processing conditions than many virgin materials.

Recycled PP, PE and ABS may contain impurities, fillers or inconsistent material properties. These factors can accelerate screw and barrel wear and affect plasticizing stability.

For high recycled-material content, screw geometry and material selection are especially important. A wear-resistant or bimetallic solution can help reduce abrasion and extend service life.

When replacing a screw barrel, do not select it only by machine tonnage. Screw diameter, total length, injection volume and original dimensions should also be confirmed.
