A bimetallic screw barrel is a practical solution for extrusion lines processing abrasive materials such as recycled PE/PP, CaCO3-filled compounds, glass-fiber materials and engineering plastics.

Compared with a standard nitrided screw and barrel, bimetallic wear-resistant layers can significantly improve service life in demanding production conditions. This is especially important for recycling, pelletizing, pipe, profile and compounding extrusion lines where continuous wear can gradually increase screw-barrel clearance and reduce output.
