A vented extruder screw barrel helps remove moisture, air and volatile gases from the plastic melt during extrusion. It is commonly used for recycled plastics, pelletizing and materials requiring better degassing.

The screw design is critical. Compression, decompression and metering sections must work together to prevent material from escaping through the vent while maintaining stable pressure and output.

Poor venting may cause bubbles, surface defects, unstable extrusion and reduced product quality. A worn or incorrectly designed screw can make these problems worse.
